Service Notes Admiral Nursing provides one to one or family support for families living with dementia. Referrals are accepted from families themselves, professionals or other, as long as the carer has given consent. People can request advice and support from Admiral Nursing Direct helpline on 0800 888 6678 or email helpline@dementiauk.org. Dementia UK offers specialist one-to-one support and expert advice for families living with dementia through our renowned Admiral Nurses. Admiral Nurses work collaboratively with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia. Admiral Nurses support families living with the effects of Dementia across the UK and they: * Work with both the person living with Dementia and their family. * Focus on the needs of the family, including psychological support and relationship centred work to help them understand and deal with their feelings and learn different coping strategies. * Help families better understand dementia and use a range of specialist clinical interventions that help people live well with the condition, and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships. * Help families cope with feelings of loss and bereavement as dementia progresses. * Provide advice on referrals to other appropriate services and liaise with other health and social care professionals on behalf of the family. * Provide consultancy and specialist dementia education to professionals to improve dementia care in a variety of settings.
