Service Notes What is Amnesty? Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people who take injustice personally. Its members are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. What do we do? Action We help fight abuses of human rights worldwide. We bring torturers to justice. We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. How do we do it? Research Amnesty investigators expose the facts, whenever and wherever abuses happen. Human rights change starts with the facts. Our researchers collect and cross check the research. What action do we take? Awareness Raising We use our analysis to lobby, influence and press governments, companies and decision-makers to do the right thing. Through petitions, letters and protests, supporters worldwide press for action. We hold events in North Lincolnshire to raise awareness of Human Rights issues. What are the outcomes of our action? Results Few would have predicted when we started, that torturers would become international outlaws, most countries would abolish the death penalty, untouchable dictators would be made to answer for their crimes and prisoners of conscience would be released.
