Haxey Pre- School was established in 1975 and is situated in Haxey Memorial Hall Our activities are not constrained by attainment targets or levels of achievement: they are tailored to meet the needs of the individual children. We focus on learning and enjoyment through play following the EYFS Haxey Pre –School believes that no child, individual or family should be excluded from Pre –School activities because a child has additional needs/ special educational needs and or disabilities. We provide a caring, happy, stimulating and safe environment for every child to thrive, feel valued and reach their full potential. A Special Educational Needs (Disability) Co-ordinator is in place to support children and families with special needs/ additional needs in the setting. They also work closely with the staff team and outside professionals who may be involved in and support children with their care including: • Health visitors • Speech and Language therapists • Doctors • Community nurses • Education Psychologists etc.…. We attend SEN(D)CO termly training and seek training and advice should any needs arise. For example: Makaton training, epi pen training, training on the Autistic Spectrum, writing outcome plan targets, seeking advice re specialist equipment or adaptations, we listen to the voice of the child and parents to find their interest and wishes to meet their needs etc. As a setting we have a Special Educational Needs policies and Equal Opportunities policies in place. We also adhere to the Special Needs Code of Practice following the graduated approach (assess, plan, do and review) Where we feel a child is not making significant progress or their needs are complex, it may be necessary for us to make a request for an Education, Health and Care needs assessment. A request for an assessment would be made to the Local Authority (North Lincolnshire) If the Local Authority decide to complete an assessment, it will be necessary for them to gather advice from all relevant professionals about a child’s education, health and care needs.
