We value the children in our care and aim to provide a secure environment which is stimulating and challenging, and where the children can develop a positive, enquiring and caring attitude towards learning about each other and the environment. We believe the children must be encouraged to meet new challenges and to know that we can all learn from all our experiences. We consider it important to provide first hand experiences and activities, which help each child gain knowledge, develop concepts and acquire a wide range of skills at an age and stage appropriate level, allowing all children to meet their own full potential. We embrace children from all backgrounds religions and race and welcome children of all abilities. We contribute to many aspects of our community, and welcome parents/carers and friends into Little Acorns to share in our successes. We can offer places for eligible two, three and four year olds to take up their 15 or up to 30 hours Early Education funding per week. we endeavour to make our setting as covid-19 safe as we can and follow support and guidance from our local authority. Little Acorns Preschool are an inclusive provider who are committed to working in partnership with parents and families for children and young people with special educational needs. We adhere to the revised SEN code of practice 2015 We treat all children and families as individuals, working closely with parents and families and acknowledge them as the main educators for their children, thus ensuring that at all stages of Early Identification, parents and families are involved and aware of the strategies in place to support their child to progress in their learning and development. As well as working with the EYFS documentation we have experience in using the Early Years 1 to 10 continuum. We work in partnership with parents and professional such as Speech and Language, Portage etc enabling the sharing of knowledge, strategies, and support. To ensure the children receive the best possible start in education. Our named Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Vicky Woodforth who is experienced in Early Identifications, implementing, and writing strategies, outcome plans and reviewing the targets within these. She is experienced in the process of Education Health and Care Plans, collating reports from the relevant agencies and submitting our own reports to support this process. Vicky supports our staff team as well as parents and families with every process. We have experience in securing exceptional funding to further support individuals’ development through heightened ratios, resources and to allow extra transition to school. We attend regular update training provided by North Lincs or Outside Agencies to support the children who is currently within the setting, which enables planning support or differentiated activities for each individual child. All staff attend a form of SEN training yearly as well as inhouse training meetings. We have regular staff meetings were all children’s needs and strategies are discussed to ensure there in consistency in supporting the children. We are willing to source and attend any new training that will help us to support any individual child’s needs. As a setting we have experience of working with children and young people with differing needs and capabilities, for example, Down's syndrome, Autism, SAL delay, Global Development delay, behavioural difficulties, EAL.
