About Little Frogs - I have been an OFSTED registered childminder for over 16 years and have recently opened Little Frogs Daycare to extend the care provided to more families. Little frogs presently employs 5 more staff members and supports students on day release. All staff and in particular the Manager, have a vast experience and knowledge of working withwho have special educational needs and disabilities. We are happy to access any training available to support our continued learning. We will always work closely with parents and professionals involved in a child’s life to support their ongoing requirements and we always do our utmost to support a child to reach their full potential. About the setting - Little Frogs is open from 7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, and we provide care and learning for children aged from 0 to 12 years. The nursery has been designed to accommodate the continuously changing needs of childcare, and we regularly take children on outings around the village and local area. We are able to offer funded places for 2, 3 and 4 years old children. Our commitment to providing inclusive care - Little Frogs is an inclusive provider and welcomes all children. We do not discriminate against any person wishing to access the provision and will always work closely with parents and other settings or professionals involved in a child’s life to support their individual learning and development. We have previously cared for a deaf child and all staff have received basic Makaton training. We have also cared for children with cerebral palsy, autism, diGeorge syndrome and chromosome deficiency syndromes. This has also included hosting meetings of all professionals dealing with their care and education and our SENCO regularly attends SEND update training each term. Positive Relationships - From the very beginning of a child’s time in the setting, we always endeavour to work in partnership with parents and other agencies or settings to meet the needs of each individual child. We exchange information daily with parents both verbally and with a daily diary that is emailed. Our SENCO is confident to approach a parent should we have a concern about their child. We have regular contact with SEND officers from the Local Authority and work closely with all the local playgroups, nurseries and schools. Enabling Environments - The setting and garden are ideally suited to children of all ages with outstanding learning experiences and high quality provision of care. We are prepared to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to building as is required by the Equality Act 2010 to meet a child’s needs. We will liaise with parents and professionals to discuss if there are any adaptations that will be needed to the setting to help each child. Learning and Development - As experienced practitioners at Little Frogs we are confident that we can identify if a child is not reaching appropriate age related milestones. We regularly assess and review a child’s progress through observations in line with the requirements of the EYFS and share these with parents. We also complete a 2 year progress check which is shared with parents and the local Health Visitor. Should a child be in the process of getting an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan we always ask parents to involve us fully to ensure we provide support for their child. As part of our transition process we share our reports with the nursery or reception unit that children are moving in to and join them on visits to the new settings. Safeguarding every child -The Little Frogs Safeguarding Policy is shared with every parent, and is robust enough to ensure that every child is kept safe, even those with SEND, and will monitor all children’s wellbeing. We implement positive behaviour management strategies and will work with parents to help them manage a child’s behaviour effectively.
